Ship To Belgium From The UK
With a mere 1-hour flight time between London and Brussels as well as dozens of trains and ferries crisscrossing the English Channel, these transportation links are just a few indicators highlighting the close trade and business ties that the UK and Belgium share.
One attraction for UK businesses for trading with Belgium is the close proximity and its ports. The port of Antwerp, for example, provides an excellent gateway directly into Europe in comparison to other North Sea Ports.
Great transportation links mean more choice of courier services and faster delivery of goods. World Options can offer this to businesses who need to send goods to and from Belgium using couriers such as UPS, FedEx, DHL and TNT within the World Options online shipping portal. Get discounted shipping rates for deliveries to your customers and suppliers, whether you are sending parcels to Belgium, documents, large parcels, pallets by road, air or sea.

How To Address A Parcel To Belgium
In general, the same addressing rules that apply to the UK are also relevant for addressing a parcel to Belgium, although there a couple of things to keep in mind.
When writing a Belgian address, leave a space between thoroughfare name and street number and do not fill the space with punctuation signs such as points, commas.
Due to Belgium’s official languages of Dutch, French and German – the name of the town/city should be written in the official language of the city if the city is unilingual. If the city is multilingual, the address can be written in any of the official languages.

Prohibited and Restricted Items To Belgium
As Belgium is a member of the EU, all fellow member states benefit from access to the single market and free movement of goods. Nevertheless, there are certain restrictions in place on what can be imported into Belgium.
Prohibited goods include:
- Fish weighing over 20kg.
- Meat and milk originating from non-EU countries.
- Products of protected species protected under the Washington Convention, like ivory, tortoiseshell, and reptile skin
For a full list of restricted and prohibited goods, check with your chosen courier or shipping supplier.

Belgian Customs and Duty
Import duties do not apply to EU member states shipping into Belgium, thanks to the single market which allows free movement of goods.
There are also no documentation requirements for fellow members of the EU.
vVAT applies and the standard rate is 21%, although there are lower rates on certain items. A 12% rate applies to social housing and agricultural products, while a 6% rate applies to goods including basic foodstuffs, water, hotel services, and property restoration.

Brexit
At the time of this guide being written, the UK is still part of the EU. Businesses looking to ship to Belgium from the UK must keep abreast of all our Brexit news to get the most up-to-date information about what shipping rules are applicable to them. The UK is set to leave the EU in 2019, after which date this information is subject to change.
